Why You Should Never Stay at the Radisson in Phildadelphia on Penrose Avenue — My Honest Review

--

Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

The Radisson in Phildadelphia, PA in Penrose Avennue is independently owned and operated as a franchise.

Big red flag right there. I only do chains when the chain is involved.

If you want to stay in a room that hasn’t been cleaned, stay at the Radisson in Philadelphia on Penrose Avenue.

They’ll leave the macaroni on the floor for you.

Yes, there was an actual piece of old macaroni left on my floor and here’s a photo to prove it.

That was the first clue that told me the room wasn’t cleaned.

But to confirm it, I called down to the front desk, after I noticed that the table in the corner near the lounge chair was sticky and disgusting with some kind of clear substance stuck to it.

When the front desk guy answers, I ask him, “Did anyone clean the room before I got here?”

He says, “I don’t know. Let me check.” Those are his exact words because I’ll never forget how they rang in my ears the entire visit.

Was I sleeping on someone else’s sweat stains?

Well, no because I bought my own sheets, pillow cases, and blanket because who can really take that chance?

I might have to give hotels under 4 stars the boot after this, particularly any Radisson hotel ever, just to avoid this kind of crap.

But it didn’t end there.

The bathroom door wouldn’t close like a normal bathroom door. I had to pull it back on its hinges just to get it closed.

Not to mention the hand towel on the back of the shower door was dirty.

The WiFi absolutely sucked so bad that I had to call downstairs to complain. The woman must hear that often because she immediately gave me the ‘employee WiFi’ information like it was nothing. Another red flag.

I couldn’t even watch TV on the hotel’s TV because you have to cast your phone to the screen in order for it to work.

But guess which WiFi you have to be connected to in order to connect your phone to the TV? That’s right, their crappy, non-working guest WiFi.

When I called down to tell the front desk, I was given an attitude as if I was inconveniencing her when I was the one being inconvenienced.

So, I pulled my laptop out and connected to the employee WiFi and just watched shit on there until the end of my thankfully very short visit.

And when I tried to watch cable (God help me)…they kept losing signal!

And the worst part?

They didn’t even offer me a new room!

They asked if I’d like the housekeeper to come up and clean the table and vacuum up the macaroni.

Oh, Radisson, you shouldn’t have. You really shouldn’t have. Rolling out the red carpet for me like that. Gosh, I feel special.

And remember when I told you I bought my own pillow cases? Well, when I went to change them, I saw a disgusting stain on one of the pillows.

To top it all off, the lock mechanism on the outside of my door appeared broken, like someone could easily tamper with it and come into my room (if I forget to double lock my door for some reason).

The parking situation was also horrible. They have hundreds of empty cars parked where guests should be parking. I don’t know if those are rentals? But it made no sense that they were in the closest parking spots and the guests had to park sort of behind them.

I had to park pretty far from the front door with all my luggage and I don’t know if there’s free valet or not, but it would’ve been nice to have been offered that.

And at nearly $200 a night, you’d think they could afford to update the hotel every once in a while.

There was peeling paint near my window and above my desk in multiple places.

Another thing: nothing was replaced in terms of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body wash.

I could clearly see the tape was already ripped when I went to pick one up (forgot to take a photo of that one because I was just so pissed at this point).

Never again will I stay at another Radisson. You can do it if you want to, but you might encounter the same things — if not worse — than I did.

Stay at your own peril.

My overall review of the Radisson Philadelphia on Penrose Avennue?

0/10

0.5/5 stars (and that point five is only because they had luggage carts)

I’m supposed to be getting a full refund from these guys due to this experience, so that’s the only silver lining.

(I’ll keep you guys updated on that as it progresses, but at the moment I’m still waiting for my full refund.)

Have you ever stayed at a Radisson? What was your experience?

Let me know in the comments.
